SFM Youth Group Hosts Glow Walk
The month of September is Suicide Prevention Month. The SFM Youth Group had the 2nd Annual Suicide Prevention Glow Walk last night in the community of St. Francis. We had 11 youth group members helping set up and pass out glow sticks and glow crosses! We had a table available for families to write posters in remembrance of loved ones. We had great participation for the event. Angie Stover brought youth from the Sacred Heart Parish in Pine Ridge, S.D. to walk with the youth. Ben broadcasted live and did interviews before we started on KOYA 88.1. Geraldine Provencial spoke before we started and Fr. Jacob Boddicker, SJ prayed. We started at the St. Francis Community building and walked to the Icimani building. We served refreshments and cookies and people spoke afterwards. Thank you to the St. Francis Mission Staff Harold, Catherine, Caroline, Wicahpi and the SFM Youth Group and families for working hard to make this event happen! SFM youth Group is open to youth ages 11- 18 years. We meet twice a month, once for a fellowship and once for community service. We do a lot of fundraising too. The youth are currently raising funds to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, IN in November.
