Baptism: For children 7 years and younger
Do you have a child age 7 or younger and wish them to be baptized? Parents or guardians will gather to prepare for the celebration of the sacrament beginning on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the CYO Building in Rosebud.
Baptism is about becoming a member of the family of God in the Church and all that goes along with that.
Since Baptism is about being named a child of God and a brother or sister to every other Christian, in a way it is really about making relatives.
Relatives know one another and know their family traditions. As we gather to prepare for the celebration of the sacrament we will get to know one another and share some of the family stories of our Christian faith.
- We will gather at 6:30 p.m. to get ready on the following Wednesdays: November 12, 19, and 26*, and December 3, 10, and 17
- We will also see each other on the weekends at Mass. Each week special prayers will be offered for the children and families preparing for the sacrament.
- We will complete our preparation for and celebration of the sacrament on Sunday, December 28, 2015.
If you have questions about the sacrament or our plans to prepare for it and celebrate it, please contact Fr. Christopher P. Johnson, S.J. by telephone at
747-2361 ext. 228 or 828-6128 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: Only one godparent is required, but the child may have two. Godparents must have received the sacrament of confirmation and be practicing Catholics. Catholic family members who have not been confirmed or family members who belong to other Christian communities can act as witnesses to the baptism. If finding a Godparent becomes difficult, an elder of the parish community can serve as godparent.
* The gathering on the 26th may be moved as the 26th is the evening before Thanksgiving.
